JPEG Image Compression
Compressing a digital file involves deleting little amounts of data bits to make it's size smaller. Lossless compression minimizes file size without reducing it's quality, while lossy compression minimizes both size and quality.
Images of this type can only be compressed using lossy compression due to the nature of JPEG files. To achieve a satisfactory balance between file size and image quality, you can manage the amount of compression applied to the image.
Why does a JPEG need to be compressed?
JPEGs have a large file size. For instance, a high-resolution image captured by a good camera may be big. The picture will take up a lot of space on your hard drive as a result. In this instance, compression could be a helpful technique to make the picture smaller without erasing it.
Smartphone JPEGs in particular are top candidates for compression. The majority of smartphone cameras produce JPEG photos. Your phone's internal storage may be consuming a lot of space if you have a large number of high-quality pictures stored inside. Compressing such files might be the difference between having to backup or remove some photographs or leaving them in their current location.
How to compress a JPEG file
This page's compression tool is simple to use, free, and doesn't require any program downloads. You are free to use the tool as often as you wish, and there are no watermarks or registration requirements.
Click the "Upload Files" button to begin uploading your JPEG/JPG files. If you want, you may use the "Drop Your Files Here" area to drag and drop your files.
Our program will intelligently calculate each image's optimal compression ratio once it has been uploaded. Its thumbnail in the queue will display that ratio. It's okay if you feel that an image should be compressed more or less than what our server decides; you have control over it. To fine-tune a photo, simply touch on it and use the quality slider to suit your tastes. Click "APPLY" after you're happy with it. Continue doing this until you are satisfied that all of your uploaded photos are ready to use.
Click "DOWNLOAD ALL" when you're ready. A ZIP file containing all of your compressed JPEGs will be sent to you. You may download each image separately by clicking the "DOWNLOAD" button beneath its corresponding thumbnail, so it's okay if you don't want a ZIP file.
Press the "CLEAR QUEUE" button to begin the compression process over if you have more pictures you want to reduce.
